Before the pandemic, Rwandans were struggling to grow their economy. Businesses were starting in tourism, hospitality, and agriculture, and there were the beginnings of real hope for the future. But when COVID hit, it forced thousands of businesses to collapse, which meant many lost jobs and another half million people descending into poverty.
Now that the crisis is lifting, Rwanda is looking for new jobs and new businesses. They need more than temporary solutions or one-time handouts. They don’t need us to rescue them. They need to be empowered to rise up and take control of their own futures.
ECatalyst believes that there are heroes that have great ideas and the drive to do amazing things in every Rwandan community. What they often don’t have is a community that can show them how, help them find resources, and cheer them on as they rise up against the obstacles they face.
If you would like to help entrepreneurs in Rwanda build new, innovative, growth-oriented businesses, please contact us or click the link below to support one of the ecosystems there.
We have solid leadership and some great connections with growing businesses and new entrepreneurs throughout the capital. There are a good number of NGO style micro-business organizations, and a few good accelerators, but there is nothing like the kind of growth-oriented community of entrepreneurs in Kigali. Come and see what we are doing there!
Byumba is a much smaller area in the Northern part of Rwanda near the Ugandan boarder. But, there is an amazing network of entrepreneurs and business leaders in that area. It is not nearly as developed an area as the capital, but there is plenty of innovation happening! The people or Byumba are looking for growth and liberation from the shackles of charity and all the dependency that it brings. There is already a skills-based (vocational) training center there, but we want to empower those who want more to become economy impactors!
